IMAGICA Infos Inc., in collaboration with Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd., has announced the release of the story summary, preview images, and a short web trailer for Episode 5 of the TV anime Potion, Wagami wo Tasukeru — the fifth title in their “AnimationID” project.
Based on the popular fantasy novel series from Hero Bunko, the story follows Kaede, an ordinary high school girl who wakes up in another world with a mysterious book that can create potions. The upcoming episode introduces a new group of characters — a band of dragon hunters.
Episode 5 “Rude Elf” – Story Summary
A sudden encounter with a group of dragon hunters leads to an unexpected twist.
They claim to be searching for the creator of Kaede’s miraculous potions.
Among them is a rather curt and unfriendly elf with a peculiar constitution.
Just what kind of secret is she hiding?
This episode explores how Kaede’s potions affect the people of this new world and hints at the deeper mysteries surrounding her power.

Series Synopsis
Kaede, an ordinary high school girl, wakes up in a strange alleyway only to find herself in a world filled with beastmen, elves, and dragons.
Inside her backpack lies a mysterious book she doesn’t remember owning — one that can produce potions simply by saying the word “Generate.”
In this new world, those potions become her lifeline.
While dreaming of returning home to Japan someday, Kaede begins her daily struggle to survive, heal others, and uncover the truth behind the book’s power.
About the Original Work
Potion, Wagami wo Tasukeru began as a web novel on “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” in April 2014.
Its popularity quickly grew, leading to its print publication by Hero Bunko in April 2015.
The series, known for its cozy yet adventurous tone, has reached Volume 11 as of now.
A manga adaptation illustrated by Yoshi Tobe (also the novel’s illustrator) started serialization in 2023 and currently runs up to Chapter 16.
